I put forth a valiant effort. I went on a mini-wine tasting hopscotching tour today in our local are. While limited in selection I got the just of the whole ambiance.
I thought I’d like some form of a sweet wine, because my memories of the only wine I ever liked was some sort of ‘berry’ flavored wine. So I was told to sample all things sweet.
Nope. No go.
I branched out and tried the traditional stuff, the dry selection, I even went so far as to sample the ‘hot’ or ‘warm’ prepared wine and took a stab at the specialty sparkling wine.
Nope. No go.
I can’t seem to get the after-taste out of my mouth. It’s just not for me. I do not have the palette for this stuff.
In the end I discovered that I enjoy any type of wine that doesn’t taste like wine. Pure and simple. LOL
On the positive side of things, my wife and I got to share the experience with my awesome in-laws who are more of the wine-drinking connoisseurs. They held our hands, taught of the language and proper wine-tasting etiquette while we stumbled through this wine-tasting spree. We had a great time laughing and enjoying the warmth of the sunshine. We had some great weather. All in all a good day in my opinion.
Now please, pass me that glass of water…
