Hero WODs… and Lt. Murphy
I’ve spent a while sitting at the computer trying to put how much Hero WODs mean into words. It’s a hard thing to explain – especially to people who don’t CrossFit. The workouts are always horrific tests of physical and mental toughness and a positive experience and opportunity to pay your respects to those who have fallen.
They’re a way to be thankful that you are still alive and able to go through that pain when their namesakes paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
A Hero workout calls for the best you have to give. It’s the last place to cheat or half-ass your way through. Unlike a normal WOD, you aren’t just cheating yourself, you’re cheating the person who is no longer able to be with their friends and family and do what they love.
