Where Time = Survival

When time = survival, anything that could streamline the process of fighting the battle against sepsis would and should be a valuable tool. Seems this new  ‘Prove-it’ sepsis assay test might be a great addition.

Most tests  that evaluate the possibility and the presence of a patient being ‘septic’ can take almost 24 hrs or more. This handy-dandy lil’ tool can do that job in a fraction of the time. Now of course it’s accuracy is not on the same level as the tried-and-true methods, but I think this might be something that could help deter the veracity or severity of sepsis?

The longer sepsis goes untreated the worse a patient can and will get. Sepsis is nothing to fool around with.

  1. In the pediatric world in which I work, any test that can make a more rapid diagnosis of sepsis would be huge-I have had too many calls as a triage nurse where the kids have the purple/wine colored rash wich means that these kids are already in deep kimchi.
